Hey all – it’s been awhile! I took some time away to recharge my batteries while the book manuscript was out for peer review, but I’m back with a few updates:

  1. The notes from the peer reviewer are back and they are generally very positive. I’ll be making some revisions in the coming weeks, but it looks like I’ll be submitting the final manuscript to the publisher by the end this year! It’s always good to get constructive feedback and I’m looking forward to making those revisions and edits, to make the book even better! One step closer to the finish line …
  2. This last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to go to Ice Nine Kills’ Silver Scream Con V, which was a celebration of all things horror and INK, including an amazing concert where we got to hear the King-inspired “Funeral Derangements” and “IT is the End” live, both of which were absolutely amazing.
  3. My local public library (Canton Public Library, Canton MO) has a cookbook-based book club called “Let’s Dish,” where the facilitator chooses a cookbook for the month and patrons select and make recipes from that cookbook, which wraps up with a pot luck-style gathering at which everyone shares their cookbook creations. This month’s cookbook for “Let’s Dish” is Theresa Carle-Sander’s Castle Rock Kitchen! I’m looking forward to returning to the cookbook and trying my hand at a couple of the recipes I didn’t get to the first time around. Stay tuned!
  4. I am very much enjoying King and Peter Straub’s newly released third book in the Talisman trilogy, Other Worlds Than These, and will be back soon with thoughts on that. The book would have been a delight no matter what, but my reading experience has been particularly wonderful because I’m currently working on a book chapter on King and Straub’s collaborations. My research has included reading through archival material and correspondence between the two authors, which has provided fascinating insights and has truly just been a joy. The friendship, banter, and high regard between King and Straub shines through in every bit of those communications and has been providing me with a really unique lens for rereading the first two novels and starting this new one.

Stay well, Constant Readers, and I’ll be back with more soon!
